Feed production in Spain reached 37.5 million tons in 2022, according to data from the latest feed production report, provided by the Autonomous Communities, manufacturers of feed, additives, and premixes, including farms that manufacture feed for their own consumption.
Despite the 2.6% decrease compared to 2021, Spain has once again established itself as the leading feed manufacturer in the EU and remains, according to publications from companies from the industry operating in the international market, among the top ten compound feed manufacturing countries in the world.
By species, the production of compound feed for pigs continues to be the most significant, with 48.49% of total production, followed by cattle and poultry feed, which represent 20.74% and 19.41%, respectively. Compared to last year, the production of pig feed has decreased by 4% and cattle feed by 1.6%, while poultry feed has increased by 0.6%.
