Spain: meat production rose by 5.8% in 2015

Regarding swine, in 2015 the Spanish abattoirs slaughtered 46,379,926 pigs, producing 3.89 million tonnes of pork.

According to the latest data of the Livestock slaughtering survey of the Statistical Service of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA), in 2015 Spain produced 6.17 million tonnes of meat (+5.8% with respect to 2014).

Regarding swine, in 2015 the Spanish abattoirs slaughtered 46,379,926 pigs, producing 3.89 million tonnes of meat (+7.6% with respect to 2014). So, pork production still is the most important one, with 63.1% of the total meat production.

Catalonia still is the autonomous comunity with the highest meat production, with 2.16 million tonnes of meat (1.64 million tonnes of pork).
