The Council of Ministers approved on Friday a Royal Decree amending current legislation on animal health products regulations.

Therefore, it applies to a wide range of products used in animal husbandry or veterinary medicine, from reagents for diagnoses of animal diseases to hygiene, care and animal handling products.

The amendments introduced aim to simplify and clarify the commercial distribution system for animal health products, eliminating the need for prior distribution centres approval.

Health guarantees in trade in these products are also strengthened by always demanding prior approval of those animal health products not manufactured in the European Union, but in third countries.

Through this new Royal Decree exports of animal health products are also facilitated by establishing a model Free Sale Application Certificate when third countries require it, allowing companies to process it electronically with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment.
