Spain: Pig slaughter increased by 3.82% during the first quarter of 2016

During the first quarter of 2016, Spanish abattoirs slaughtered a total of 12,625,781 pigs.

During the first quarter of 2016 Spanish abattoirs slaughtered a total of 12,625,781 pigs, representing a growth of 3.82%  over the same period last year. Catalonia, Castilla y Leon and Aragon are at the top of the list, with 5,251,613 (+ 1.64%), 2,003,730 (+ 10.35%) and 1,311,961 (+ 3.89%) animals.

In terms of weight, a total of 1,113,836 tonnes was reached, an increase of 5.97% over the first three months of 2015.
