The Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, has announced the start of preparatory work for the National Food Strategy. Geopolitical instability and technological transformation require changes in how food is produced, purchased, and consumed.
The strategy aims to guarantee a constant and secure food supply for the population through an environmentally sustainable, economically profitable, and socially fair production system while strengthening rural communities and promoting healthy eating habits.
The participation of all stakeholders will be sought to ensure a comprehensive and cross-cutting strategy. A working methodology has been designed around the strategy. Suggestions and proposals can be sent through an open mailbox (bzn-ena@mapa.es).
A draft is expected to be available for public consultation in March 2025.
