According to data available from the RVO (Statistics and Market Information Service) of the Netherlands, Spain imported a total of 780,622 Dutch piglets, compared to 583,016 in the same period of the previous year, representing an increase of 34%. As for finishing pigs, 18,949 animals were imported, compared to 13,253 in the first quarter of 2024, an increase of 43%.
Compared to the 2024 annual totals, the first quarter 2025 figures already represent 48% of total annual Dutch pig imports (39,589 in all of 2024) and 33% of total piglets (2,361,792 in 2024), which, if the trend continues, points to a year of strong growth in live animal inflows from the Netherlands.

This upturn underlines the importance of the Netherlands as a key supplier for the supply of young animals for pig production in Spain.
