Last Wednesday 19 November, the presentation of the “Spanish Animal Protection and Welfare Association (SEPROBA)” was held in the Official Veterinary Association of Madrid headquarters.
As specified in its rules, the goals of this newborn association are to study, promote, stimulate and spread the scientific and technical knowledge related to the protection and welfare of livestock on the farm, during transport and at the abattoir.
The initiative for the setting up of this association stems from Miguel Ángel Aparicio Tovar (professor at the Veterinary Science/Medicine Faculty of the University of Extremadura and member of the Royal Academy of Veterinary Sciences of Spain) who, together with other partners, has started this project that now begins its journey, and we hope that it develops and grows with new partners and contributions, because animal protection and welfare is one of the priorities of the professional practice of veterinarians.
