According to information published by the Livestock External Trade Service (CEXGAN), pertaining to the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, the persons in charge in the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, and the Russian veterinarians in charge have held two meetings (March 27th and April 10th) with the aim of analysing the situation and adopting precise measures in order to guarantee the requirement level demanded by the Russian side. Nevertheless, the Russian Veterinary Service considers that the guarantees provided up to this date are not enough, so it imposes temporary restrictions to the supply of animal products for human consumption to the Customs Union (CU) market as of April 18th 2013.
Only a group of companies will be allowed to export as of April 18th 2013, but after a previous inspection visit by Rosselkhoznadzor technicians.
The companies interested in resuming the supply to the CU will have to be supervised by the Spanish competent authorities, in order to verify the compliance of the CU regulations and, additionally, they will be inspected by Russian technicians jointly with the Kazakh and Belorussian veterinary services.
