Spain: the drop in the slaughterings of pigs carries on

During the first nine months of this year, the number of slaughtered animals adds up 30,684,654 pigs, which entails a drop by 0.90%.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Spain has just published the data regarding the slaughterings of pigs in the month of September. According to these data, during the first nine months of 2013, the number of slaughtered animals adds up to 30,684,654 pigs, which entails a drop by 0.90% with respect to the same period of year 2012 (30,962,233 pigs).

With respect to the production of meat, a total of 2,550,435 tonnes were obtained: a drop by 1.30% in comparison wit the same period in year 2012 (2,584,080 tonnes).
