The last foreign trade report published by the Ministry of Agriculture corresponding to the month of October deals with this in the Bilateral Foreing Trade chapter between Spain and Russia, where there in terms of exports the pig meat stands out.
According to this report, among the total of the economic sectors, the foreign trade with Russia shows a balance of –5.967 M€ in 2011, and it implies, in terms of exports, a 1.1%, and in terms of imports a 3.2%. With respect to the Agricultural and Fishing sector it is the fifth commercial partner of Spain within the Third Countries group, presenting, in 2011 a positive balance of 583 M€ (in 2010 it was 517 M€). The value of the exports amounted 714 M€ (the 2,2%), and that of the imports amounted 131 M€ (very little significant regarding the total of the Spanish imports).
Among the main goods within the field of the MAGRAMA (Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Environment) exported to Russia during the last three years, the main exported product is pig meat: its value with respect to the exports has increased by 124%, positioning itself with value of 158 M€ in year 2012. As an average 4,126 t/month are exported at a value of 2.2 €/kg. Russia is the destination of approximately the 7% of the Spanish pig meat exports.
