In 2023, Spain imported a total of 1,980,936 Dutch piglets, representing an increase of 17% compared to 2022, in line with the trend of recent years.
In the last five years, Spain has doubled its imports of Dutch piglets, from just over 1 million piglets imported in 2016 to almost 2 million last year (Figure 1).

Imports of finishing pigs from the Netherlands on the other hand decreased by 68% to 30,032 head following three years of increases, with a large increase in 2022 (Figure 2).
