Spanish pork production grows by 2%

Whilst production increases importantly in Aragón, it comes to a standstill in Catalonia.

In the first semester of 2019, pork production in Spain reached 2,375,719 tonnes: an increase by 2.08% with respect to the same period in 2018. The number of animals slaughtered has been 26,788,275: a rise by 2% in comparison with the first semester in 2018.

Among the main pork producing autonomous communities we must highlight the increase seen in Aragon (16%), that has gone from 304,397 tonnes in the first semester of 2018 to 354,831 tonnes in the first semester of 2019, whilst in Catalonia, the main producer in Spain with 948,681 tonnes, production has come to a standstill with respect to the same period in 2018, with a drop by 0.66%.
