Data published by the Swedish Board of Agriculture: since the 1990s meat consumption in Sweden has increased by 40%.

Among the different reasons that have caused this increase we have the entry into the EU, the increase in income, the entrance of new diets and products, as well as new influences from other countries.

In year 2011 the meat consumption per capita in Sweden attained its highest level, reaching 87 kg per capita, and according to the predictions, in year 2012 it got close to 85 kg.
