The veterinary authorities of Taiwan have informed of the presence of a dead pig off the coast of Tianpu, town of Jinsha, county of Jinmen. The samples taken from the dead animal have been positive for African swine fever (ASF), with a similarity of 100% with respect to the strain isolated in continental China.

According to the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine, the direction of the wind in the county of Jinmen and previous experiences show that the animal probably came from continental China.

The government of the county of Jinmen has implemented control measures and samplings on the pig farms located within a 5-km radius and the results have been negative.
