Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade Watcharee Wimuktayon indicated that the ban on pork export was only temporarily while expressing her belief that the prices of pork were still reasonable.

Ms Watcharee explained that the ban was not being enforced on all exporters; but anyone who wished to export pork must seek permission from the provincial governor first. Each exporter will be considered based on its history of exporting.

The Director-General said that the ban would only be effective for two months while adding that the Department of Internal Trade had been monitoring the situation on pork prices continuously. She was also confident that the current prices had not affected pork producers.
