The Spanish meat exports grow in terms of volume and value

The value of the Spanish meat exports has reached €1,262 miilion, an increase by 2.06% with respect to the same period in 2015.

According to the latest data offered by the ICEX, during the first trimester of 2016, the value of the Spanish meat exports has reached €1,262 million, an increase by 2.06% with respect to the same period in 2015.

In terms of volume, the exports of both frozen and fresh meat, as well as that of meat products, have grown by 11.93% with respect to the first trimester of 2015, with a 599,466 tonnes exported. If we go back a decade, the volume of meat exports has doubled (284,753 tonnes in the period between January and March of 2007).

Pork, both frozen and fresh, is the most exported meat in terms of volume, with a total of 355,218 tonnes, an increase by 14% with respect to the same period in 2015. On the contrary, the exports of cured hams and forelegs during the first trimester of 2016 has reached 8,338 tonnes, a decrease by 9.25% with respect to the first trimester of 2015.
