The Tönnies slaughterhouse in Rheda resumed slaughtering animals last week after being closed for 4 weeks due to COVID-19 infections among its workers.
The closure led to a significant delay in bringing pigs to slaughter and a consequent increase in weight, which is why Tönnies has adapted its payment system by increasing the base weight by 7 kg. The quality adjustments have also been modified.
