As part of the joint food safety efforts of the U.S. and Mexican health agencies, training in good agricultural practices for producers and marketers of fresh foods has been strengthened exponentially over the past year, and significant progress has been made in the standardization of laboratory techniques for the timely detection of pathogens such as hepatitis A and Cyclospora cayetanensis.
These actions have helped to strengthen the Binational Outbreak Notification Protocol, which enables a rapid response to the detection of food-borne diseases, thus protecting the health of consumers in both countries.
Senasica's food safety programs allow domestic and international consumers to have access to products certified in Contamination Risk Reduction Systems (SRRC), which provide guarantees that the established hygiene measures were applied during the production, harvesting, packaging, and marketing of fresh vegetables.
Since 2012, Mexican and U.S. health agencies have been working together to strengthen the safety of food produced, marketed, and consumed in both countries. This work was formalized in 2014 with the signing of the Declaration of Intent for cooperation in the alliance for the safety of fresh and minimally processed agricultural products.
