The total number of pigs in the UK remained unchanged in 2011 at 4.5 million.

The total number of pigs in the UK remained unchanged in 2011 at 4.5 million.

Despite increased feeding costs, there was no change seen in the number of fattening pigs. The breeding pig herd increased by 1% between 2010 and 2011 and now stands at 522 thousand.
