Britain's major pig genetics companies and their vets have developed a protocol for the importation of live pigs into the United Kingdom.

The companies, which are members of NPA's Breeding Companies Committee, already employ health standards that exceed statutory requirements, and this is reflected in the protocol.

The rules cover stock from both new and existing sources and are designed to protect against all major pathogens of concern to United Kingdom pig health.
