Total number of biological samples testing positive for PEDv reached 6,006.

Starting with the report for diagnostics conducted during the week of 6/17/13, the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) has taken over collecting the data and compiling the report from all labs conducting PED testing. According to AASV, 185 new cases were reported during the week of 12/15/2013 and 116 during the week 12/22/2013, bringing the total number of new cases reported to 1946.

Cases reported during the week of 12/15/2013 making week's total of 185 the highest since beginning of the outbreak.

One-third of the reported cases are in Iowa. Slightly over half of the cases with a known farm type or age class have been in nursery or grow-finish herds. The number of states reporting at least one confirmed case of PEDv remains at 20 as no new states reported a confirmed case during the last week.
