Uruguay: Creation of the Food Harmlessness Research Coordination Committee

The Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP), the National Agriculture and Livestock Research Institute (INIA), the National Meat Institute (INAC), the National Research and Innovation Agency (ANII) and the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU) signed an interinstitutional agreement for the creation of the Food Harmlessness Research Coordination Committee (CCIIA).

It is a committee that will establish priorities in the lines of research, and its goal will be to drive, coordinate, supervise and carry out the monitoring of the activities related to the research regarding the animal and plant food harmlessness that support, from the scientific point of view, the decision making by the MGAP.

The agreement was signed last Friday, in the MGAP headquarters, by the presidents of the institutions involved. This committee will be headed by the MGAP through the Directorate General of Food Harmlessness Control. The Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, Mr. Tabaré Aguerre; the president of the National Agriculture and Livestock Institute, Mr. Álvaro Roel; the president of the National Meat Institute, Mr. Federico Stanham; the manager of the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay, Mr. Miguel Brechner; the president of the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay, Mr. Fernando Fontán; and the president of the ANII, Mr. Fernando Brum, participated.
