The Canadian meat company that temporarily closed one of its pork processing plants last week due to the presence of COVID-19 in some of its workers is now joined by several US plants.

The Tyson pork processing plant located in Iowa, has also decided to close due to the presence of the disease in more than twenty of its workers. In an effort to minimize the impact, the company is relocating the animals originally scheduled for delivery to Columbus Junction to some of the other plants the company has in the region. According to information published in different media this plant that will temporarily closed for a week, slaughters more than 10,000 pigs a day.

On the other hand, CNN has also reported the closure of a Cargill meat plant with more than 900 workers in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, also due to the presence of COVID-19 among its workers. The plant produces beef and pork meat products for retailers.
