A group of food industry organizations, including the American Meat Institute, National Pork Producers Council and National Chicken Council, want the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to oppose proposals to increase the level of ethanol to be blended into gasoline.

Reps. Jim Costa (D-Calif.) and Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) introduced legislation to give relief to livestock producers, dairymen and consumers. The bipartisan legislation will link the amount of corn ethanol required to fulfill the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) to the actual U.S. corn supply.
