Despite high input cost and animal diseases, the livestock sector in Vietnam has grown with the number of farms across the country up 13.2% in 2011 to 23,558 farms, said Nguyen Xuan Duong, Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department.
He said poultry meat production increased 16.8% in the year, eggs 19% and pork 3%.
Meanwhile, the number of small-scale farms is declining.
