In 2023, the export value of livestock products will reach 515 million USD. Of which, the total volume of pigs exported in 2023 will reach 12,276 tons, a slight increase compared to 2022 with 11,518 tons. Vietnam's total pork export turnover is estimated to reach nearly 63.3 million USD, up 28% over the same period in 2022 (49,314 million USD).
In 2023, Vietnam imported an estimated 114 thousand tons of pork (accounting for nearly 3% of total domestic pork consumption). Pork imports in 2023 were equivalent to 2022, but imports of edible by-products from pigs in 2023 increased by 77%.
The number of breeding pigs imported into Vietnam in 2022 was 6,527 female breeding pigs and 1,375 male breeding pigs. In 2023, 5,457 pigs for GGP, GP, and parents were imported; of which, 3,746 were female and 1,711 were male.
Vietnam imported an estimated 16.8 million tons of animal feed materials in 2023 (equivalent to 6.8 billion USD) (not including materials of animal origin), of which the main imported raw materials were: 7 million tons of corn (equivalent to 2.1 billion USD), 4.9 million tons of oil cake (equivalent to 2.4 billion USD), wheat + barley 1.4 million tons (equivalent to 453 million USD), DDGS 1.15 million tons (equivalent to 394 million USD), bran of all kinds (equivalent to 110 million USD), broken rice + rice 414 thousand tons (equivalent to 145 million USD), soybeans 343 thousand tons (equivalent to 226 million USD), and supplementary feed 527 thousand tons (equivalent to 574 million USD).
