Atrophic rhinitis - Atlas of swine pathology

Where: respiratory system, nasal cavity
Possible causes: Atrophic Rhinitis
A shortening of the maxillary bone (Brachygnathia superior) can be observed in this pig’s head secondary to atrophy and deviation of nasal turbinates. This disease is called atrophic rhinitis, a multifactorial disease caused by either dermonecrotoxin positive Pasteurella multocida (Progressive atrophic rhinitis) or Bordetella bronchiseptica (Nonprogressive atrophic rhinitis). Poor air quality is a predisposing factor.
