Haemorrhagic pneumonia found in a fattening pig in the slaughterhouse. Dark red areas can be seen throughout the lung parenchyma. When this injury corresponds to a slaughterhouse finding without any signs in vivo, the most likely cause of the pneumonia is blood aspiration prior to slaughter. However, the lobular distribution in this case suggests an acute viral illness in the final phase of fattening.
