These are inflammatory changes in the lungs in this case were caused by the PRRSV. Respiratory symptoms, especially breathing difficulties, are mainly observed in pigs in the first and second fattening periods. They may be accompanied by anorexia, drowsiness, fever, conjunctivitis, eyelid edema, and discoloration of the ears and snout. Infection of the lungs with PRRSV leads to an increased risk of secondary infection ( e.g. Pasteurella multocida, Trueperella pyogenes, Streptococcus suis). In a herd, the disease can increase losses and uneven growth of fattening groups.
