Lymphadenopathy - Atlas of swine pathology
Where: lymphatic system, lymph nodes
Possible causes: Porcine circovirosisPRRS
At necropsy, when lymph nodes are increased in size the correct term to describe the finding is: lymphadenopathy. This can be produced by inflammation (lymphadenitis), immune reaction (lymphoid hyperplasia) or neoplasia (lymphoma, for instance). Usually, gross inspection is not sufficient to determine the etiology of this change and, therefore, histopathology is needed.
