Mucohemorrhagic colitis - Atlas of swine pathology

Possible causes: ColitisSwine dysentery
Portion of the colon of an Iberian finishing pig in which the mucosa appears thickened and on it is mucus and traces of blood. This is a mucohemorrhagic colitis produced by infection by Brachyspira hyodysenteriae. Very similar lesions can be produced by B. pilosicoli. In both cases only the large intestine is affected.
