Lung of a nursery piglet in which we can observe multi-focal red dots distributed all over the surface of the organ. These are petechial hemorrhages as a consequence of septicemia caused by Streptococcus suis.
We must make a differential diagnosis with diseases that cause multifocal hemorrhages such as septicemias from other bacterial agents, swine fevers or infections from highly pathogenic PRRS virus strains.
