The open kidney of a fattening pig appears whitish on most of the surface with irregular contours. This is a chronic process of fibrosis (sclerosis) as interstitial nephritis progresses, and is clinically associated with chronic renal failure.
A differentiation must be made between this lesion and other chronic or degenerative inflammatory processes.
