Farrrowing rate (farrowing index)
It is the percentage of farrowings in respect to the sows that have been mated in a certain period of time. So, the farrowing rate is calculated as follows: Number of farrowings / Number of sows mated in a certain period of time. For instance, a farrowing rate of a 90% means that 90% of the sows mated for the first time get to farrow. The rest of them do not get to farrow due to different reasons (abortions, returns-to-oestrus, they die, they are slaughtered...).
