VIV Europe 2010 back to its roots in Utrecht

VIV Europe 2010 will take place from April 20 - 22, 2010 in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht, The Netherlands. The international exhibition on innovative animal husbandry aims to be the ultimate meeting place for international top decision makers in the feed to meat industry. This year two special themes with related conferences will be presented at the exhibition, Eggs! and Meat Safety. Up to 400 companies from 32 different countries have already booked a stand, covering about 75 % of the total exhibition floor.

A new Pfizer Animal Health was unveiled last week as Pfizer's acquisition of Wyeth, including its subsidiary Fort Dodge Animal Health, was completed. Pfizer Animal Health is now the world’s leader in the discovery, development, manufacture and sales of veterinary vaccines and medicines for livestock and companion animals.

The Public Health Agency of Canada has confirmed that there have been no reported illnesses related to these products. £100M boost for animal health research

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and the Institute for Animal Health (IAH) today welcomed the announcement by the Government of over £100M investment by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) in the redevelopment of the UK’s world leading animal disease research laboratories at Pirbright in Surrey.

Maple Leaf Responds to Weatherill Report on Food Safety

Maple Leaf Foods today commented on the Weatherill Report that investigated the listeriosis outbreak last year that claimed the lives of 22 Canadians. The source of the contamination was three types of prepared meat products made at the Maple Leaf Foods Bartor Road plant in Toronto.
