Bulgaria – FMD: no change of the health status

Since the last outbreak (31 January 2011) no change of the health status has been observed. Teams of National Veterinary Services perform daily clinical examinations of the susceptible animals in the municipalities of Tsarevo, Malko Tarnovo, Sredets, Primorsko and Sozopol (Burgas region).

Russia - African Swine Fever Outbreak among Wild Boars in the Rostov Oblast

The diagnosis of African swine fever was made after laboratory tests were performed in the Rostov Regional Veterinary Laboratory on samples of pathologic material taken from 13 dead boars in the hunting entity Verkhnesvechnikovskoye of the Kasharskiy Rayon, the Rostov Oblast. At the present moment, measures are taken in accordance with the Temporary instruction on prevention and eradication of African swine fever.

Japan declared FMD-free

Japan has regained it foot-and-mouth disease free status. Paris-based World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) approved this last week.

Russia - The situation with ASF in the Kaliningrad Oblast

According to the Territorial Administration of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Kaliningrad Oblast, test performed in the Kaliningrad interregional veterinary laboratory in the framework of the ASF monitoring of samples taken on February 2, 2011 from boars shot in hunting entities of the Pravdinsk district of the Kaliningrad Oblast and from a domestic pig shot during backyard slaughter in the settlement Kostyukovka of the Pravdinsk district of the Kaliningrad Oblast gave positive results on February 6, 2011.

Additional FMD case found in central S. Korea
