Surveys conducted in the months of May and June 2010 indicate a decrease in the EU – 27 swine population of 1% with respect to 2000, with a census that has gone from 151 million heads in 2009 to 150 million in 2010.

The latest swine census data from the month of October shows a 5,3% decrease in Danish swine herds, in comparison with the same period last year, reaching its lowest level in 10 years with a total of just 12 million animals.
