Harrisvaccines to develop FMD vaccine

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded Harrisvaccines a $1 million-plus contract to develop a vaccine for foot-and-mouth disease, one of the world’s most economically devastating animal diseases.

August pork exports lower than a year ago

U.S. pork exports in August were down 6 percent in volume (175,310 metric tons) and 7 percent in value ($495.5 million) compared to a year ago, but these totals were up 10 percent and 6 percent, respectively, from the previous month’s performance.
