The push to build more modern slaughter houses, offer investment incentives to private operators, and impose tough laws and standards indicates growing demand for modern meat processing technology. ILDEX Vietnam 2010 is expanding its meat-processing profile to satisfy this demand.

VIV Europe 2010 back to its roots in Utrecht

VIV Europe 2010 will take place from April 20 - 22, 2010 in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht, The Netherlands. The international exhibition on innovative animal husbandry aims to be the ultimate meeting place for international top decision makers in the feed to meat industry. This year two special themes with related conferences will be presented at the exhibition, Eggs! and Meat Safety. Up to 400 companies from 32 different countries have already booked a stand, covering about 75 % of the total exhibition floor.

Iowa Pork Industry Center to Offer PQA Plus™ Advisor Training Program

Veterinarians and others in Iowa’s pork industry have the opportunity to become Pork Quality Assurance Plus™ Advisors under the National Pork Board's PQA Plus™ program. The certification process requires attendance at a daylong training session and passing an exam at the conclusion of that session. The Iowa Pork Industry Center (IPIC) at Iowa State University (ISU) will hold one such training Nov. 19.

Iowa State Swine Nutrition Program Welcomes New Graduate Students

With five new graduate students and a lab manager, Iowa State University’s (ISU) applied swine nutrition program is focused squarely on the future. The program, under the leadership of animal science associate professor John Patience, has three research themes: energy, ingredient evaluation, and feeding management. There also are collaborative efforts with additional animal science faculty members in other areas.
