MRSA thrives even without antibiotics

The MRSA bacterium, which is resistant to antibiotics, has spread rapidly in the past few years on pig farms. Extensive use of antibiotics is thought to help it spread, but reducing the use of antibiotics is not enough to eliminate MRSA on pig farms.

USA: Legislation to reform renewable fuel standard introduced

Reps. Jim Costa (D-Calif.) and Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) introduced legislation to give relief to livestock producers, dairymen and consumers. The bipartisan legislation will link the amount of corn ethanol required to fulfill the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) to the actual U.S. corn supply.

Beefing up Jamaica's pork production
