Brazil: significant decrease in pork exports

Throughout July, Brazilian pork exports reached 36.104 tons, which signifies a 17,52% decrease in volume and a 13,28% decrease in value. The main cause of this decrease was the Russian embargo on pork meat decreed on June 2nd, which came into effect on June15th.

Canada: increase in number of pigs

European Union agricultural income rose by 12.6 % in 2010

According to the second estimates for the Economic Accounts for Agriculture (EAA) submitted to Eurostat, agricultural income per annual work unit increased by 12.6 % in the EU in 2010. This followed a decrease of 10.0 % in 2009. In 2010, agricultural labour input in the EU decreased by 1.5%.

Denmark: Decrease in total antimicrobial consumption in pigs

For the first time since 2002, the total antimicrobial consumption in pigs decreased. The decrease in consumption was 5% measured in doses per pig produced (adjusted for export of pigs around 30 kg) compared with the 2009 level, but remained above the 2008 level (by 7%).
