Brazil – Creation of a fund for the agroalimentary sector

The Brazilian government is preparing the creation of a fund that will guarantee the survival of the agroalimentary sector. The objective is for the Bank of Brazil (70% of the shares are owned by the government) to manage the fund, since the bank has a long tradition of giving credit to the rural sector. The value of the fund would be 3,350 million euros.

Germany - The largest supplier of pork to Poland

Denmark is no longer the largest supplier of pork to Poland. Germany has overtaken it following a 52 percent surge in the first quarter of this year. Germany and Denmark account for two-thirds of Polish pork imports.

Denmark - Positive forecast for pig production

The Agriculture and Food Council’s recently published prognosis on pig meat prices and earnings in pig production indicates stability for the rest of current year and for next year as well. The significant fluctuations, which we have seen during the last six months, will ease off. The current expectations are stable compared to the announcement as of March 2009.
