Standstill in the Brazilian pig production
The ABPA foresees a decrease in the foretold growth for the Brazilian pig production. The current forecasts show a production of 3.64 million tonnes, the same volume as in 2015.
Global meat production is projected to be higher in 2025
Pigmeat production will also grow after 2016, driven by China, where herd size is expected to stabilise after years of substantial reductions (a drop of 25 million pigs between 2012 and 2015).
The expansion in global pork production will decelerate over the next decade

EU pig meat production i n 2016 is expected to stabilise at around 23.4 million tonnes, despite the positive feedback from export markets and a first glimpse of price recovery.
German pig population continues to decrease
According to provisional results of the semi-annual livestock survey, the pig population decreased by just under 600,000, or 2.2%, from November 2015. That was the lowest figure in the last five years.

The exports to Asia have drained the stocks and have made all the European prices grow.
Germany: Meat production down
This was due to a decline in pork and beef production. A marked increase was however recorded for poultry production.
New increase of the Spanish pig census
The total pig census in Spain (Iberian pig included) as of November 2015 was 28,367,335 heads: an increase by approximately 5% with respect to the census in May 2015.
