DLG Trendmonitor results: Continued investment despite challenging conditions

This spring the Trendmonitor surveyed 3,500 farmers in eight countries – Germany, France, UK, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. Included in the survey for the first time were top farming decision makers in Russia and the Ukraine: and responses from the new countries emphasised the continued importance of markets for agricultural machinery in eastern Europe and further afield.

Biogas growth predicted

About 760 biogas plants will be connected to the German national electricity grid in 2009 — three times the number in 2007 — according to estimates by the German Biogas Association. This is around 100 times more than exist in the UK.

China - $9.5b earmarked to help farmers

The central government will spend 65 billion yuan ($9.5 billion) on infrastructure and services in rural areas to help farmers cope with the economic downturn, the State Council said yesterday. The move to support the agricultural sector includes investment in pig raising and dairy farming and improving grain production.
