The Centre de Recerca en Sanitat Animal (CReSA) is a public foundation for the technological research and development, and the study and teaching of animal health, in collaboration with other public centers and private companies. The CReSA was created following an initiative of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and the Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries (IRTA) in order to address problems and challenges that this sector could face.

Since it was created 13 years ago, the CReSA has recruited an important group of scientists and currently includes 38 PhD researchers, veterinarians and other biology specialists in virology, bacteriology, immunology, entomology, pathology, epidemiology, parasitology, prions, diagnostics, disease control, and field studies as some examples.

One of CReSA’s top priorities is the transfer of all the scientific advances to the professional sector including consulting activities for veterinarians, companies and government. That is why CReSA organizes yearly scientific-technical formative activities always related to animal health. Some successful examples are the specialization training programs CReSA Training Programs and the scientific journal for not specialized readers CReSAPIENS.

More than 50% of CReSA’s research and other activities are focused on pig diseases. Thus, CReSA collaborates with 3tres3.com in several initiatives, with these online courses being the latest initiative. These courses should be a knowledge update for professionals working with the most important swine diseases from an economical and a social/public health perspective.
